The Illinois Chapter of the United States Green Building Council has honored Tibbott Elementary School for the outstanding community collaboration that took place during the planning and construction of the school’s outdoor garden project.
Tibbott staff and Wight & Company of Darien volunteers worked together on the project which culminated in the actual construction of the garden by dozens of volunteers on Green Apple Day of Service which was Sept. 29. Plantings will begin in the spring.
The USGBC was so impressed with the combined efforts that officials gave Tibbott its “Best Partner Collaboration Award” of outstanding accomplishment.
The Center for Green Schools at the USGBC is the organization behind the Green Apple movement. The Center’s goal is to work to ensure that every student in the country has the opportunity to attend a green school within this generation.
