VVSD Students Selected for IMEA Festivals

The Illinois Music Educators Association in a statewide organization designed to promote lifelong music learning and provide leadership for music education.

Seven Valley high school students have qualified to play in various Illinois Music Educators Association festivals.

trombone player Rich Jett qualified for both orchestra and jazz band, while RHS’ Stormie Kelley qualified in both vocal jazz ensemble and chorus.  Also from RHS, Joshua Damore (euphonium) made Festival Band, Marlena Peirzchala was named to the chorus and Jacob Ortiz qualified on vibes in the jazz band.

Shane Cook (percussion) and Megan Eberle (clarinet) qualified for Festival Band as well.

Jett is a member of the RHS Marching Band, Jazz Band and Wind Symphony, plays tennis and is a member of National Honor Society. Kelley sings in Madrigals and participated in the Fall Play and Spring Musical, and is part of the RHS Color Guard and the Speech Team.

Damore is in Marching Band, Jazz Band and Wind Symphony, participated in the Spring Musical, and is a Madrigal. Peirzchala is part of Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Madrigals and the Speech Team, and was in the Fall Play and Spring Musical. Ortiz is in Marching Band, Jazz Band, Wind Symphony and Indoor Pioneer Percussion.

Eberle is in BHS Wind Symphony, Marching Band, and Pep Band and is a member of Environmental Club. Cook is in Wind Symphony, Sunrise Singers, Jazz Band 1, marching Band and Pep Band and is in National Honor Society.
