Whiz Kids: Bolingbrook High School Cheerleading Squad

The BHS cheerleading program will lead an effort to raise funds for students in need by selling spirit items and seeking cash donations at upcoming Raider football games.

Each week,  Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid. Know a great kid who made Eagle Scout? Did your local soccer team take the championship? Or maybe your youngster just did all of his or her chores this weekend? They can all be our next Patch Whiz Kid honoree.

Submit your nomination in our comment box below or e-mail the information to Local Editor Brian Feldt at brianf@patch.com. Be sure to include all of the following information included below.

But enough with the plugs, this week's Whiz Kid is...

  • Whiz Kid:  Cheerleading Squad
  • Age: High school
  • School:
  • Key to Awesomeness: At the next two home football games, the BHS cheerleading program will lead an effort to raise funds for students in need by selling spirit items and seeking cash donations at this Friday night’s football games against Joliet Central and at the homecoming contests against Joliet West on Sept. 17. “There are quite a few students at BHS who are homeless and have very little money to purchase things they may need throughout the school year,” said Tammy North, BHS Varsity Cheerleading Coach, adding the money raised will be put in a fund established by the school last year to help BHS students in need. Those who are unable to make either football game may still contribute to the fundraising effort by contacting North at NorthTC@vvsd.org. Checks should be made payable to Bolingbrook High School. Courtesy of Valley View School District.
