Baseball: Bolingbrook Rallies Late Before Darkness Ends Game in Tie

Bolingbrook 3, Lockport 3 (9 innings). Raiders stage two comebacks before field becomes too dark.

Touching all the bases: Bolingbrook refused to quit, coming back twice against conference foe Lockport. They tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth and again at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth before the game was called due to darkness.

Patch’s MVP: Steve Waldrop, Bolingbrook. Waldrop overcame a shaky start on the mound and pitched seven solid innings for the Raiders to keep them in the game. He allowed three hits and six walks while striking out five.

Key play: In the bottom of the seventh, catcher Justin Kovalsky hit a towering double to deep left field with shortstop Kyle Nadres on base. Nadres had a mediocre jump, but headed for home with what would have been the winning run. Even with a high throw on the relay, Lockport catcher Tyler McAdams tagged out Nadres at the plate.
