Bears Sign Cutler to 7-Year Deal: Is He Worth It?

The Bears have locked up the QB position for the foreseeable future, and it belongs to Jay Cutler. Was this a good move?

The Chicago Bears signed quarterback Jay Cutler to a seven-year contract Thursday, ESPN reports. No details of the deal were reported.

Cutler would have been an unrestricted free agent if the Bears hadn't re-signed him. The deal comes less than a week after the Bears lost to the Green Bay Packers and missing a chance to move into the postseason.

Throughout his Chicago career, Cutler has suffered from Rodney Dangerfield Syndrome: He gets no respect. This season, he had his best statistical year in the NFL. But some critics thought the Bears should've kept backup quarterback Josh McKown behind center after Cutler sat out a games because of injury.
