Bolingbrook Park District Danceforce Wins Awards

Editor's note: The following is a press release from the Bolingbrook Park District. 

Danceforce recently competed at the Hollywood Vibe National Competition and Convention in Sandusky, OH. The following is a list of performance titles and awards the dancers won.

PRELIMINARY COMPETITION

Barre (specialty piece choreographed by Molly Ghahtani) received a High Gold and 1st place overall for Teen Extended Production.

Shake it Out (which included 2011-2012 Senior Jamm Team choreographed by Lynette Puzon) received a Platinum, 1st Place overall for Senior Large Group, Overall highest score for the Senior age division

Papercut (specialty piece choreographed by Lindsey Jones) received a High Gold, 1st Place overall for Teen Large Group, and Overall High Score for the Teen age division

Entrapment (specialty piece choreographed by Stefany Drabes) received a High Gold, 1st place overall Intermediate Large Group, Overall High Score for the Intermediate age group 

FINAL COMPETITION

Danceforce was up against 31 different studios from Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, Missouri, Minnesota, South Carolina, Michigan, Florida, Indiana, New York, Oregon, Iowa, Utah, and Windsor Ontario Canada.  

Entrapment (specialty piece choreographed by Stefany Drabes) received a High Gold.

Detention (2011-2012 Junior Jamm choreographed by Katrina Amante) received a High Gold and 1st place for Intermediate Hip Hop Small Group.

Hold On (2011-2012 Junior Jamm choreographed by Erin Kopasz) received a Gold. 

Birds of a Feather (2011-2012 Teen Jamm Choreographed by Molly Ghahtani and Myra Villas) received a Gold.

Barre (specialty piece choreographed by Molly Ghahtani) received a High Gold and 1st Place for Teen Extended Production.

Clue (2011-2012 Senior Jamm choreographed by Lynette Puzon) received a Platinum, 1st Place for Senior Jazz Large Group category, and the Judge’s Specialty Award for Best Choreography.  

It’s Alive (2011-2012 Teen Jamm choreographed by Katrina Amante an Chris Zarate) received a Platinum and 1st Place for Teen Small Group. 

Papercut (specialty piece choreographed by Lindsey Jones) received a Gold.

Waterfall (2011-2012 Junior, Teen, and Senior Jamm Teams choreographed byh Lynette Puzon) received a High Gold (compared to a High Silver at Regional Competition). 

Shake it Out (specialty piece choreographed by Lynette Puzon) received a Platinum and 1st Place for Senior Lyrical Large Group.

Classic (2011-2012 Senior Jamm choreographed by Katrina Amante & Chris Zarate), which also competed in the Battle of the Stars, received a Platinum, 1st Place for Senior Hip Hop Large Group, Overall High Score for the Senior Age Division, and was chosen as one of the Top 2 Finalists to battle that evening at the Closing Night Gala for Battle of the Stars competition, which was the night’s most prestigious event. Danceforce’s top finish comes against hundreds of other numbers including many entered by formal studios.
