Boys Soccer: Raiders Win Season Opener in Windy City Tournament

Priest Bonsu and Chizobam Nkemeh each scored a pair of goals in Bolingbrook's season opener.

The boys soccer team defeated Little Village 4-2 Tuesday in the Raiders' first game of the Windy City Ram Tournament.

Senior forward Priest Bonsu and senior defender Chizobam Nkemeh each netted a pair in Bolingbrook's season opener. Both of Nkemeh's scores came on free-kick headers.

The Raiders (1-0) advanced to play Fenwick, which defeated Romeoville High School 1-0 Tuesday, in the second round of the tournament on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at BHS.

Senior defender Erick Ontiveros and junior forward Josue Barbosa each tallied two helpers in the game—both of Ontiveros' assists came on neatly placed volleys to Nkemeh.

The Bolingbrook defense limited Little Village to six shots on net and goaltenders Luis Rivera and Franky Luna handled all but two of them.

Bonsu was Bolingbrook's top scoring threat last season and figures to be a key component to any success the Raiders hope to have this season.

The Raiders are looking to build upon a 14-8 record from last season, which  in the IHSA playoffs' Class 3A boys soccer regional.

That mark, though, could have been better as the team lost nine games by one goal.

Not a traditional soccer powerhouse, Bolingbrook has been on the up and up, having logged a winning record in the last two seasons.

"First time we've had back-to-back winning seasons in probably 15 years so that's something to be proud of," Bolingbrook coach Jamie Clemmons after last season's playoff loss.
