Coach Smith's Biggest Challenge: Keeping The Lady Raiders Focused

With the postseason lurking around the corner, Bolingbrook head coach Tony Smith is doing his best to keep the Lady Raiders on task.

When a team piles up one double-digit win after another, the chance to teach a lesson or two on the hardwood gets lost once every now and then.

That's not the case with Bolingbrook and head coach Tony Smith.

The Lady Raiders took to the road Monday night and put on a show on both ends of the floor, . In the 49-point win, 10 different Bolingbrook players scored and three registered in double figures.

Bolingbrook picked up its 19th win overall and 12th win in conference play. Still, it's hard for Smith to be completely satisfied when the team still has goals to accomplish ahead.

"We just want to go out every night and get better. We may be beter than a team, but there's a way to do things and we're trying to do things the proper way all the time," Smith said.

Among things on Smith and the Lady Raiders' to-do list: playing hard, cutting back on mental errors, improving in all facets of the game—and having fun.

Even though the Lady Raiders are aiming for another state title, there are times where Smith finds it difficult to motivate his players.

"The toughest part with this group is that they want to do things their way," he said. "They want to take the easy way out at times, but I've always been told nothing worth anything comes easy and we're just trying to get them to buy into that."
