Eight Bolingbrook Students Commit on National Signing Day

Eight Bolingbrook High School student-athletes have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic endeavors in college next year.

Six of them, including football players Eric Harris, Cecil Nicholson, John Hall, Mike Valentine and C.J. Clark; and soccer player Nikia Smith, formally signed during ceremonies at BHS Wednesday afternoon. Football players Parrker Westphal and Jaden Huff were honored Wednesday but both have already graduated from BHS and enrolled in their new schools.

Smith, who will attend Northwestern University, is a 4-year varsity starter, serving as captain for two years. A three-time member of the SWSC All Conference squad and two-time all-sectional player, she is the leader on a Raiders defense that has recorded 18 shutouts in the last two years.

Huff, who is now at St. Cloud State, was a member of the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association’s All-State 1st team. A four-year varsity starter, he rushed for 814 yards this past season and was All Conference, All Area, and runner up as offensive player of the year in the SWSC Blue.

Westphal, now at Northwestern University, was named to the Champaign News Gazette 1st Team All-State squad. As a senior he had 50 tackles, 8 pass break ups, and 4 interceptions, and was all conference, all-area and voted defensive player of the year in the SWSC Blue.

Nicholson, headed to University of Indianapolis, was both All-SWSC and All-Area with 45 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 10 pass break ups, and 3 interceptions.

Hall will go to Butler University. He was a 3 year varsity player with 48 carries for 178 yards, and 5 catches for 72 yards

Valentine signed with William Penn University. He scored 10 touchdowns on 71 carries for 504 yards.

Clark is bound for McKendree University. He played on varsity for three years with 75 tackles and 2 sacks.

Harris will go to University of Dubuque.
