Football: Bailey Does It All Again In Win Over Belleville East

The Bolingbrook Raiders won their second game of the season led by a strong showing on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

Make that two for two in the extraordinary performances category for quarterback Aaron Bailey.

Bailey completed 7 of 11 passes for 138 yards and even ran for a 58-yard touchdown off a fake punt in the third quarter to help lead the Raiders to a 39-13 win over Belleville East Friday night.

"We had our regular defense out there, and just a returner. We were just sitting there watching for the fake, and he still cut it back inside," Belleville East coach Tim Funk told the Belleville News Democrat. "It was like a run play for him, and he cut it back and made a great play. You have to tip your hats to them. That's one good football team, and he's a hell of a player."

The Raiders (2-0) made the nearly five hour trek but didn't appear to be jet lagged.

Bolingbrook's defense forced two three and outs on the Lancers' first two possessions of the game and the Raider offense did the rest, scoring on their first and second drive of the game—first on a 12-yard run by running back D.J. Pruitt and then on a quarterback scamper by Bailey.

After a Lancer (1-1) score in the second quarter, the Raiders went up 19-7 on a 17-yard run by running back Jaden Huff, a Belleville News Democrat report said.

The Raiders, the report said, would score three unanswered touchdowns to end the game.
