Long lines anticipated to have your picture taken with the Chicago Blackhawks' latest tour with the Cup.

Written by Erin Sauder

A special guest will be in Bolingbrook next week, but he’s by no means a stranger to to the community.

For the second time, the Stanley Cup will make an appearance in town, thanks to Chicago Blackhawks’ Team Services Director Tony Ommen, a Bolingbrook resident.

The Cup will be on display from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at the Bolingbrook Golf Club, 2001 Rodeo Drive. A professional photographer will be on hand to take photographs. The cost of the photographs is $20, and they will be available for online retrieval after the event.

“We’re very thankful to have a resident in Bolingbrook who actually works for the Hawks,” said Randy Farber, general manager of Bolingbrook Golf Club. “A special thanks to Tony for allowing us to have this special day.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Heart Haven Outreach (H20).

The trophy was last in Bolingbrook after the Hawks won the championship in 2010.

Farber said about 3,000 people came out then to have their pictures taken with the Stanley Cup.

“I would anticipate that based on the fact that it’s not very often that the same team wins the cup this close together that we’ll have at least that many come this year if not more,” he said.

He urges attendees to come early and be prepared to stand in line.

“And be patient,” he said. “We’ll do our best to get everybody through.”
