Massengale, Tuck Invited to Try Out for USA U19 Squad

National team will play for fourth-straight world championship in Chile in July.

From one three-peat squad to another, it seems to make on difference for Ariel Massengale or Morgan Tuck.

Massengale and Tuck—two pillars of the over the years—have been invited to try out for the USA U19 World Championship team.

Both were included in the elite roster of 34 of the nation’s best girl basketball players ages 19 and under, which was released last week by USA Basketball.

Massengale and Tuck, who helped lead the Lady Raiders to a , will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., on May 22 to try out for one of 12 roster spots.

The announcement of up to 16 team finalists will be made in the morning of May 25, a USA Basketball release said.

If selected, Massengale and Tuck would begin training with the team in early June at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., as part of the ESPN RISE Girls Showcase.

Both Massengale and Tuck were part of last summer’s U17 national team, which won the FIBA U17 World Championship in France.

In that game, Massengale led all shooters with 20 points, while Tuck netted three points.

The U19 team has won the past three world championships and will look to defend its title this year in Chile from July 21-31 in Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas.
