Smith Tapped to Help Oversee USA U16 Team Tryouts
Smith named one of three court coaches for national team trials.
As head coach of the Bolingbrook girls basketball team, Tony Smith has led the Lady Raiders to and seven consecutive final four appearances.
And later this month, Smith will be one of a few coaches in the country charged with leading the USA Basketball U16 squad's attempt to claim its second international championship.
On Tuesday, USA Basketball named Smith as one of four court coaches during the USA Basketball's 2011 Women's U16 National Team trials.

Trials, according to the USA Basketball website, will be used to select the final 12-member roster that will represent the USA in the 2011 FIBA Americas U16 Championship June 13-18 in Mérida, Mexico. The top four finishing teams at the 2011 FIBA Americas U16 Championship will earn a berth into the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship.
