: Aaron Bailey, junior, quarterback. Bailey's second-straight nomination comes on the heels of his team's over Neuqua Valley in the first round of the playoffs. Bailey scored four touchdowns and rushed for 300 yards on 16 carries (18.75 average).

: A.J. Simoncelli, senior, quarterback. Simoncelli recorded what could be his best performance ever in a against Naperville North. Simoncelli completed 17-of-23 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. He threw zero interceptions and completed first down passes to five different receivers.

Joliet Catholic Academy: Rachelle Sartori, senior, runner: The four-time all-conference senior led the Angels to sectionals by placing with a medal-worthy time of 18 minutes, 32 seconds.

: Varsity soccer team. The Indians (20-3-3) (17-8-1) 1-0 Friday night to advance to the Peoria Notre Dame Supersectional. It's the Indians third straight sectional championship. Senior Mike Walus scored the game-winning goal.

: Blake Beehler, senior, midfielder. Beehler scored the lone goal in a against crosstown rival Naperville North, handing the Huskies their first loss of the season while placing the Redhawks on the doorstep of state for the first time since 1988.
