While the annual Taste of Bolingbrook is fun for all ages, kids will especially get a kick out of this year’s event.

Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce officials have opted to move the venue from behind Bolingbrook’s Town Center to The Promenade Bolingbrook, 631 E. Boughton Road, allowing more space to spread out.

The relocation has enabled officials to expand the Kid’s Zone, which will include a bounce house, crafts, a roaming magician, deejay, and more. The Bolingbrook Fire Department will also be there with a fire safety house and to distribute free child identification kits which allows parents to record vital information should their child go missing.

“That area is what we spent the most amount of time expanding,” said Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce president Michael Carpanzano.

The fifth annual Taste of Bolingbrook will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. Thursday, and include 12 food vendors selling their fare at reduced prices and entertainment including Bolingbrook Park District's Danceforce and music on the main stage. Admission is free. There will also be free raffles every half hour between 2 and 5 p.m.The Kid’s Zone runs from 2 to 8 p.m.

“We have a really big mix of things,” Carpanzano said.

The Promenade Bolingbrook’s Farmer’s Market will also be going on from 4 to 9 p.m.

Carpanzano is excited about the change in venue.

“I think it’s a better fit,” he said. “It will provide constant visibility and between (the Promenade’s) normal Thursday crowd we’re adding a whole day of food and fun. And since we’ve expanded so much and added a lot more this year than last year we can really spread out.”

This year’s Taste of Bolingbrook food vendors include:

• bd's Mongolian Grill       • Gordon Biersch

• Ashbury's                     • Nancy's Pizza

• Chick-fil-A                     • McQ's

• Mrs. T's Pizza               • Coop's Den

• IKEA                             • Fannie May

• Fatty Magoo's               • Noodles Pho U

Carpanzano urges the community to attend.

“There will be reasonably priced food to really make sure people can get a true taste,” he said. “And free entertainment. It’s a good time.
