Steve Maniaci was Kathleen Savio's boyfriend and likely the last person to talk to her before she was slain, except for maybe her killer. Maniaci and Savio spoke on the phone and discussed marriage, he said. She asked him to come over to her home but he declined. The next time he went to Savio's house it was because he was called and told she had been found dead. Maniaci told the state police that Savio lived in fear of Peterson and that Peterson had broken into her home. The state police did nothing with the information, failing to even include it in a report.
