Plainfield School District 202 confirmed Thusday that Darrell Stephenson had worked for them as a student teacher and coach in 2007 and 2008.
Darrell Stephenson, the 24-year-old soccer coach accused of having sexual contact with a 12-year-old boy, was slapped with fours counts of child pornography on top of the two charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse he already faces. The Will County state's attorney's office announced the new charges in a press release issued Thursday afternoon. It was also revealed Thursday that Stephenson had been a student teacher at Aux Sable Middle school in Plainfield in spring 2008, a volunteer assistant boys volleyball coach in spring 2007 and a paid assistant boys volleyball coach in spring 2008, Plainfield School District 202 spokesman Tom Hernandez said. Safety reasons cited for not identifying officers.
Police officials said Tuesday that releasing the names of the three police officers arrested in Peoria for their part in an alleged strip club fight would be a "huge officer safety concern." Therefore, the names remain unknown to the public. Two Bolingbrook officers and a Channahon cop—each of whom belonged to the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad (MANS)—were arrested April 5 after they went to Big Al's strip club and allegedly got into a fight with the bouncer. MANS' executive board met Tuesday morning, where members were expected to discuss whether to release the officers' names. Officials, however, remain quiet in handing down more information. "I have no comment," said MANS Director Dan Tapper. "I'm not going to speak on this." Both …

Police Department says case is under review.
Three undercover members of the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad, including two Bolingbrook police officers, were arrested last week after allegedly getting into a fight at a Peoria strip club. According to a report, members of the squad went to Big Al’s strip club on April 5 while in town for an enforcement conference. After one of the members failed to show identification, bouncers told them they could leave if unhappy and, according to the report, a 34-year-old Bolingbrook police officer told the bouncer, “I’m leaving anyway. Why don’t you try and make me.” Another Bolingbrook officer, 40, became involved as the dispute went into the club’s parking lot. The 40-year-old officer, according to the report, was charged with one count of …

McCord met with a 25-year-old woman at a local intersection to buy an iPad from her after they had arranged the hand-off on Craigslist, police said. "McCord ripped the iPad from the victim's hand and ran to his mother's house on Whispering Hills Court," according to the report. Police tracked him to the 1200 block of Whispering Hills Court by following his footprints in the snow, they said. When asked, McCord confessed to stealing the iPad, according to the report. Yeah, cuz letting bad guys know that there are Bolingbrook cops in Peoria would be revealing too much, because being undercover, the cops undoubtedly used their real names, right? Ridiculous. Not printing photos would serve the purpose. Not revealing their names because of some BS about covert operations is an insult to those that believe it, and is another typical example of government doing as …   more ›
