Police: Parents shouldn't relax curfew rules on Bolingbrook teens' big night.
Prom night for Bolingbrook High School students is fast approaching. Prom 2013 will take place April 26 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The theme is "Midnight in Paris." Prom tickets are $70 each and are on sale through April 24. Prom night can be a time for good, clean fun. But for some teens, it’s a night to throw caution — and rules about things like drinking and sex — out the window. To prevent risky prom-night behavior like unsafe sex, drinking or drugs, now is not the time to relax parental rules, according to local police. The village of Bolingbrook, along with four other Will County communities, have filed a lawsuit against Illinois American Water to take control of a water pipeline through eminent domain.
After making two offers to purchase a water pipeline from Illinois American Water, the Northern Will County Water Agency has filed a lawsuit to take control of the Bedford Park pipeline through eminent domain. The Northern Will County Water Agency includes Bolingbrook, Lemont, Woodridge, Romeoville and Homer Glen. Officials in Lemont, Woodridge and Romeoville have said only small portions of their communities are served by Illinois American Water and would be affected. The water agency claims the pipeline takeover would prevent Illinois American Water from continually hiking residents' water bills. IAW claims the increases in water rates are the result of increases from other agencies, and the Northern Will County Water Agency is wasting…

The parlor is expected to open this spring at McQ's Sports Bar & Dome in Bolingbrook.
The Bolingbrook village board voted unanimously Tuesday night to give the go-ahead for an off-track betting parlor to open at McQ's Sports Bar & Dome this spring. The board approved ordinances for a special use permit for the OTB parlor and an amendment to the village's zoning code. The location still needs to acquire a license from the Illinois Racing Board before it can open. McQ's Owner James McWethy said he hopes to open the facility this spring in time for the Kentucky Derby, though no official opening date has been set. Get news in your inbox. The village board will vote Tuesday whether to allow a Hawthorne Race Course off-track betting facility to open in Bolingbrook.
An off-track betting establishment may open in Bolingbrook. The village board will vote on two ordinances Tuesday that would pave the way for the Hawthorne Race Course OTB (off-track betting) facility. The first is an amendment to the zoning ordinance addressing off-track betting. The second is a special use permit. Both ordinances address a proposed OTB facility at 730 N. Bolingbrook Drive, the site of McQ's Bar & Grill. The applicant is Jeff Kras of Hawthorne Race Course, Inc. Hawthorne Race Course has other OTB locations in Aurora, Chicago, Glendale Heights, Joliet, Mokena and Prospect Heights, according to its website. Eight students from Bolingbrook were named to the Dean's List for North Central College's fall semester.
North Central College has named its Dean's List of scholars for the 2012 fall term. To be eligible for the Dean's List, undergraduate students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.6 (4.0=A) for the term and be enrolled as full-time students.
