Meet the New CEO; Penn Station Hosts Ribbon Cutting

Penn Station, one of the new businesses in town, will hold a ribbon cutting Tuesday.

The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an open house & CEO welcome reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., April 25 at the chamber office, 201-B Canterbury Lane. This event is open to chamber members, community leaders, elected officials, and any other Bolingbrook business (even a non-member) who may be interested in seeing all that the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce does. The new CEO of the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce shares his thoughts with Patch.

When I arrived at my meeting with Michael Carpanzano, he had the following on the table: a laptop, an iPad and a cellular phone. And Carpanzano was not just bringing them to show off. He was using them. Carpanzano and technology go hand in hand. Capanzano was selected as the CEO of the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce and took over on March 4. "I think I bring that positive spirit to advocate for business," Carpanzano said. His good relationship with technology might have played a role in his selection. Prior to being the chamber CEO, Carpanzano worked at MB Financial Bank. In that role, he spent a lot of time at chamber events. Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce to Honor Georgia Gilligan; Local Fundraisers Planned

A resident of Bolingbrook for 26 years, Gilligan will be honored at a luncheon on Wednesday.

Georgia Gilligan is a small business owner, a camp counselor, a youth minister and has done mission work in Mexico, Chicago and New Jersey. She lives in Bolingbrook with her husband of 31 years, Thomas. She has homeschooled four children and now has three grandchildren, with a fourth on the way. Gilligan will be presented with a community leadership award at a Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Luncheon, which begins at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday at Ashbury's at Boughton Ridge.

The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce will have a new president and CEO next month following the departure of Mike Evans in December.

Chamber CEO Mike Evans Bids Bolingbrook Farewell

Mike Evans stepped down as Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Friday.

Mike Evans has made his move from Bolingbrook to Naperville.  The now-former Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO served his final day Friday. He will "begin immediately thereafter as the President and CEO of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce," according to a Chamber release.  "While I am full of excitement, energy, and passion for my new position I am also overwhelmed with memories, gratitude, and optimism for the future of the Bolingbrook Chamber," Evans wrote in a Chamber e-mail. "It will have been six years in March that I served at the helm of this terrific association and I am confident that the chamber is poised for success upon my exit." Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce CEO Resigns

Mike Evans will step down as CEO of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, effective Dec. 7.

The Board of Directors of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday that Michael Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer, will step down as CEO, effective Dec. 7. He will begin immediately thereafter as the President and CEO of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. Current staff and the Chamber board chairman will oversee his duties during the interim of his absence and hiring process of a new CEO. A search committee is currently being formed and the process to find Evans' replacement will commence in December. After five years of serving the Bolingbrook Chamber, Evans’ accomplishments include an Energy Co-op in 2011 saving members more than $400,000 annually and an International Travel Program that has given more …
