Girls Basketball: Bolingbrook Battles Whitney Young in OT Thriller (Again)

After trailing through the first three quarters, the Bolingbrook Lady Raiders basketball team rallied to battle Whitney Young in overtime for the supersectional title.

The first three quarters all ended with double-digit deficits. But a 18-2 run in the fourth quarter rocked the game with a 48-48 tie and 42 seconds left on the clock. Bolingbrook whittled down the clock but missed a shot at the final second to send the game into overtime.  Watch video highlights from the game from ComcastCN100. The Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team defeated Neuqua Valley Thursday night in its 4A IHSA sectional in Oswego.

Bolingbrook Girls Basketball to Take on Romeoville in Sectional Play

The Lady Raiders will play Romeoville High School Tuesday night in the first game of the Oswego IHSA 4A sectional.

The Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team will continue its playoff berth in a Valley View match-up Tuesday night. The Lady Raiders will take on Romeoville High School at 6 p.m. in the first game of the Oswego High School sectional. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Neuqua Valley/Naperville Central match-up. The Lady Raiders won three state titles in three years before falling to Whitney Young last year in the IHSA Class 4A Super-Sectional. According to ESPN, The truth is when Whitney Young walked off the court victorious over Bolingbrook at the Hinsdale super-sectional on Monday it essentially won the Class 4A state championship. Undefeated Whitney Young went on to take the state title over Edwardsville 63-51. …

Girls Basketball: Bolingbrook Could Meet Romeoville in Oswego Sectional

A Valley View School District 365U rivalry could occur during the semi-final of the Oswego sectional.

As they pursue the Illinois High School Association’s Class 4A girls basketball state championship, Romeoville and Bolingbrook high schools could run into each other in the Oswego sectional semifinal at 6 p.m. Feb. 19. The Lady Raiders are seeded first in the sectional and will open their quest for another state title at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 in Yorkville against either Plainfield North or Joliet West. The Yorkville regional championship game is Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Spartans are seeded fourth in the sectional and will open play as the favorites at Lemont in a 6 p.m. Feb. 13 contest against either Lemont or Plainfield South. Bolingbrook High School Pack-the-Place Night: Support Girls and Boys Basketball

Bolingbrook High School will host the first of its Pack-the-Place Nights on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Support both the Bolingbrook High School girls and boys basketball teams at the Raiders' first Pack-the-Place Night on Tuesday, Jan. 29.  The boys basketball team will face off against Lincoln-Way Central. The Lady Raiders will play Homewood-Flossmoor in a rematch of the Jan. 3 game at H-F, in which the Lady Raiders came back from a nearly 20-point deficit to win in overtime.  Both sophomore boys and girls will tip off in the Field House at 5:30 p.m. Boys varsity will get started at 5:30 p.m. in the Main Gym, followed by the girls varsity at 7 p.m. between the Lady Raiders and the Vikings of Homewood-Flossmoor.  Admission is $4, but staff and students with ID get in for free. ------ Sign up for our daily e-newsletter.  Like Bolingbrook …

Basketball: Lady Raiders Almost Lose Year-Long Conference Win Streak

The Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders nearly lost its win streak in the SouthWest Suburban Blue conference with a close call against Homewood-Flossmoor.

It was a close call.  The Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders basketball team nearly lost a year-long conference win streak in an overtime thriller against Homewood-Flossmoor Jan. 3.  The team at one point trailed by 20 points. Three starters fouled out, according to the Southtown Star.  The Lady Raiders salvaged the SouthWest Suburban Blue conference winning tradition in overtime. Bolingbrook beat Homewood-Flossmoor 66-65, according to MaxPreps. The "physical affair" included 51 fouls and 60 turnovers. Bolingbrook Girls Basketball Defeats Joliet Catholic Academy

The Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team defeated Joliet Catholic Academy in the Pontiac Thanksgiving Tournament Monday.

The Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team defeated Joliet Catholic Academy Monday night in the Pontiac Thanksgiving Tournament 73-60.  Kennedy Cattenhead, a four-year varsity player, had 27 points, according to the Joliet Herald-News. Shay Robinson had 14 points and Amarah Coleman had 13. Bolingbrook forced 24 turnovers.  Bolingbrook held a slight lead against JCA in the third and held on for the win with an 18-9 closing run, according to the Herald-News.  Bolingbrook Coach Tony Smith told the Herald-News he's still figuring out a regular line-up after eight of the team's strongest players graduated last year.  “A lot of new faces, young faces,” he told the Herald-News. “We made the same mistakes we make in practice, so it’s a long…
