Debbie Caputo died Dec. 24. She was overwhelmingly nominated for Bolingbrook Patch Person of the Year by our readers.
On Dec. 21, I posted a feature on our 2012 Bolingbrook Patch Person of the Year. On Dec. 24, our Person of the Year died at the age of 44. Debbie Caputo was an inspiration to Bolingbrook for her giving nature, her fierce battle with breast cancer and her work as a fitness instructor and personal trainer for the Bolingbrook Park District. Caputo received eight nominations to be named Bolingbrook Patch 2012 Person of the Year. In the words of our readers, Caputo was an “absolute inspiration.” “The most selfless person I’ve ever met.” “A fighter.” “A ball of laughs.” “The heart of her family.” Caputo was a 20-year resident of Bolingbrook. Her two daughters, Marissa and Alyssa, attend Bolingbrook High School. For seven years, she was a …

JBSRA will become the Lily Cache Special Recreation Association, starting Jan. 1, 2013.
For years, they’re been providing recreation opportunities for individuals with special needs — and that won’t change when the Joliet Bolingbrook Special Recreation Association (JBSRA) becomes the Lily Cache Special Recreation Association (LCSRA) next year. Plainfield Park District Public Information Coordinator Marianne Ryan said the new name will become official on Jan. 1, 2013. The change more accurately reflects the partnership between the Plainfield and Bolingbrook park districts as they work to provide special recreation, Ryan said. “The Joliet Bolingbrook Special Recreation Association didn’t really clearly identify who was involved,” Ryan said. “The Plainfield Park District wasn’t represented in that name.” The name change will …
