State Rep. Natalie Manley Urges Residents: Get a Flu Shot

The number of patients being treated for flu-like illness is on the rise.

Natalie Manley: With Illinois and the nation facing a severe flu season and hospitals seeing an increase in the number of patients being treated for flu-like symptoms, State Rep. Natalie Manley (D-Joliet) is encouraging local residents to get vaccinated.  “Getting a flu shot only takes a few minutes, and can dramatically reduce your chances of getting sick,” Manley said. “By being proactive in our own health habits, we can help encourage those who do not normally get a flu shot, to do so.” Illinois is one of 24 states that are now reporting higher than normal flu activity this season. Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital Restricting Visitors Due to Flu Concerns

The restrictions detailed below are also being put in place at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital and Adventist GlenOaks Hospital.

Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital and other area hospitals are limiting who and how many people can visit hospital patients due to concerns about spreading the flu, according to a release.  Effective immediately, the Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital has put the following guidelines in place: READ MORE:  “We appreciate the understanding of our patients and their families while we implement this change,” Tyrrell said. “Once this increase in influenza has passed, we will reinstitute our family centered visiting policies.” The restrictions are based on recommendations from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
