Bolingbrook Football Players Featured in College Football Bowl Season

There are a lot of athletes from Chicago suburbs—and Patch towns—on some of the best teams in college football this season.

The BCS bowl season has begun, but two area schools will wait until after the new year to play in some of the most prestigious bowl games. Their rosters feature lots of area talent from Chicago suburbs and Patch towns.  Notre Dame, the No. 1 team in the country, plays Alabama in the BCS National Championship game Jan. 7. And No. 15 Northern Illinois, a surprise BCS team, heads to the Orange Bowl to play No. 12 Florida State on New Year's Day. A number of athletes from Patch towns, including Bolingbrook, are on the rosters of these teams, as well as others playing in bowl games over the next few weeks. Local Dance Group Electrifies Orange Bowl Halftime Crowd

The Kinetic Dance Co., a Bolingbrook-based Dance Dimensions dance troupe, entertained thousands of fans last week when they performed with the Goo Goo Dolls during the Orange Bowl halftime show.

Performers practice their craft in anticipation of being invited to showcase their skills to an audience. For the Kinetic Dance Company, a Bolingbrook-based Dance Dimensions dance troupe, that opportunity presented itself in a very big way when they were asked to perform two professionally choreographed dance routines to live music played by the Goo Goo Dolls during halftime of the Orange Bowl. The group performed their routine Jan. 3 without a hitch. But the dream-come-true scenario for the 15 young girls almost didn't happen, said troupe leader Kim Marie Peterson (affectionately called ‘Miss Kim’), who owns and operates the Bolingbrook-based studio.
