When members of the 113th Congress take their seats in January, one of the top items on their agenda very well could be a new look at federal gun control laws. In the wake of the Newtown, CT, tragedy of one week ago today, President Obama on Wednesday set a January deadline for his administration to "create concrete proposals" to curb gun violence in the United States. Obama also called on Congress to reinstate an assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 to "pursue the possibility of limiting high-capacity ammunition clips" and to "close a gun show loophole that allows people to purchase firearms from private dealers without a background check." Richard Grabowski, the Republican candidate for the 3rd Congressional District, spoke at the Lewis/Grand Haven Candidates' Night Sept. 20.
Richard Grabowski, the Republican candidate for the 3rd Congressional District, laid heavily into the David-Goliath metaphor at a recent candidates' night hosted by Lewis University and Grand Haven. "I'm David running against Goliath," Grabowski said. "I need to borrow your slingshot. Do you have the stones to help make it happen?" Grabowski is running against Democrat and incumbent Dan Lipinski. Lipinski was not present at the Sept. 20 candidates' night at Grand Haven in Romeoville, which allowed candidates representing the area meet and speak to voters. For all you anti gun people...we can charter a bus and drop you and your wife and kids off on the south side of Chicago for a four block walk through "the neighborhood"...a gun in a sealed envelope. If you open it before you get back to the bus which we will park four blocks down...you have to promise to change your position on CCW and guns in general. Any takers?   more ›
