Jonas E. Salk Elementary gathered their students for a School Walk for Diabetes, an event of the American Diabetes Association, on Thursday. Students and teachers of Salk Elementary are working together to raise funds to support the important research, information and advocacy efforts of the American Diabetes Association. Approximately 23.6 million children and adults have diabetes in United States, and one in three babies born today will develop diabetes in their lifetime. Not only are students raising funds, but they are also actively learning life-long lessons about the seriousness of diabetes and how eating healthy and exercising can help prevent the disease.
