Police: Drunk Driver Crashes Car Into Bolingbrook House

The car struck a parked car, ran over the lawn, crashed through the side wall of the house and ended up in the garage, according to Bolingbrook police.

A 36-year-old Bolingbrook man has been charged with driving under the influence after police said his car slammed through the side wall of a Bolingbrook home and stopped inside the garage.  Michael D. Karwoske, 36, was arrested Oct. 27 at 3:24 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions and  operating an uninsured motor vehicle, according to Bolingbrook police. The incident took place at 580 Eric Way.  When police arrived, they found Karwoske was standing outside of 580 Eric Way, his 2003 gray Chrysler van inside the home.  Police said a preliminary investigation indicated Karwoske was traveling north on Thomas Road when he struck a parked car on the 500 block of Thomas. Illegal U-Turn Nets DUI Charge For Driver

Officers said they found a plastic cup filled with alcohol behind the driver’s seat.

David T. Howard, 32, of the 1000 block of Churchill Drive in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 1:37 a.m. May 26 near Lemont Road and Interstate 55, Darien police said. Officers said they stopped Howard after they saw him make an illegal U-turn and found a plastic cup filled with alcohol behind the driver’s seat. Howard’s breath smelled like alcohol, he spoke with slurred speech, and he admitted to drinking, police said. He refused to take a Breathalyzer test. Police charged him with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving without a license and making an improper U-turn. He was given a July 3 court date.
