Updated: Plane's Passengers Were Not Local

Plane will be removed from field Tuesday.

Updated 4:25 p.m. The seven passengers are associated with Liberty Foundation and are not local residents, officials said in a news conference. Check back later for a full article on the news conference. Updated 4 p.m. Rush-Copley Medical Center spokeswoman Courtney Satlak said the person transported from the scene had been treated at the Aurora hospital and released. All seven people aboard were unharmed in the emergency landing, but one person did receive a minor head injury exiting the aircraft, police said. We were in Meijer parking lot in Oswego, watching the planes in the distance, when the B17 did a turn about. We saw him disappear out of site. Thank you for this update. Glad nobody was hurt.   more ›

Friends Say Naperville Crash Pilot Has Wealth of Experience

A local couple remains in serious condition at Edward Hospital after Wednesday's plane crash into a Naperville fitness center.

Neighbors of a Naperville couple who survived Wednesday afternoon's plane crash refer to the man who was flying as a "safety- conscious, seasoned pilot" who "flies by the book." "He is definitely not a new pilot. He is very accomplished," Eva Maule said Thursday. Maule lives in Aero Estates, next door to 66-year-old Lloyd McKee, who piloted the plane. McKee was flying a private plane around noon Wednesday with his wife, Maureen McKee, 63, when it crashed into the XSport Fitness, 2780 Fitness Dr., near the intersection of 75th Street and Route 59. The couple, who were pinned inside the plane after the crash but speaking to rescue workers, remained at Edward Hospital in Naperville. They are being treated for injuries that officials said were…
