Bolingbrook Runners Help Make First Fort2Base Run a Success

The first-ever Fort2Base run aimed at creating a sense of responsibility about the significance of environmentally smart decisions.

On Sept. 11, while most Americans were glued to their TV or local news outlet remembering the terrorist attacks of a decade before, three Bolingbrook residents were helping start a new tradition in the northern suburbs. The first-ever Fort2Base run, a 10-nautical-mile (11.5 miles) race starting at historic Fort Sheridan and ending at the Great Lakes Naval Station via the Green Bay Trail, was held. The Fort2Base run aimed at creating an awareness and a sense of responsibility about the significance of making environmentally smart decisions and creating public awareness of the Great Lakes and the U.S. Armed Forces environmentally conscious initiatives.
