Fountaindale to Add Book Drop on West Side of Town

New book drop will help accomodate those living on the west side of Bolingbrook.

The Fountaindale Public Library announced that a new west side book drop has been installed at the First Presbyterian Church of DuPage, located at 180 N. Weber Road, across from the Meijer. “This book drop will help us accommodate the busy lives of our patrons,” said Paul Mills, executive director of the Fountaindale Public Library. “While they are out shopping or running errands, our patrons can drop their materials off at this external location. The library’s Bookmobile now makes a stop at the church two nights a week, so it was a natural location to place a remote book drop. The First Presbyterian Church has been a wonderful partner to work with in bringing library services closer to our patrons on the west side of town.” Patrons can …

Lucy, you might want to read the article again, the bookmobile is only there twice a week, the pick ups will be every day. You might be so busy that you don't mind spending more tax dollars having someone take your books but I'm thinking that a lot of the people who don't use the library would rather their tax dollars go towards something else. I use the library so I don't mind driving myself to …   more ›

Board Approves Pay Raises for Some Library Workers

The Fountaindale Public Library approved the bump in pay at its meeting Thursday evening.

Some workers at the Fountaindale Public Library will receive a pay raise later this year thanks to action taken by the library's board of trustees Thursday night. The board met at the library for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting and approved a 2.4 percent merit increase for those meeting expectations or above. That means for an average librarian in the United States making $56,547, an approximate $1,357 pay raise would be in line for those that meet merit qualifications. The increase is in line with what the Management Association of Illinois has recommended for its members this year, said newly hired library Director Paul Mills. The MAI is a not-for-profit employers' association that provides human resources, compensation, legal, …

Ever Wonder How Much It Costs to Clean All Those Library Windows?

The library will pay a Bolingbrook company more than $3,000 per year to clean its windows.

The Fountaindale Public Library has tons of window space. In fact, nearly the entire second and third floors are nothing but windows. Have you ever wondered how much it would cost to clean them? The library's board of trustees found out last week when they approved a measure to hire a window cleaning company to do the dirty work for them. The board will pay the Smudge Free Window and Cleaning Service, a Bolingbrook-based company, $3,460 annually to clean the hundreds of window in the new library. The company will clean the lower windows four times per year and clean the higher windows once per year. The measure was approved at last week's board meeting. The library board meets on the third Thursday of each month on the second floor of the …

Fountaindale Library Names New Director

Paul Mills will be the library's next director and begin work July 5.

The Fountaindale Public Library spent more than five months searching for a new library director. And in the end, it didn’t have to look very far to get the candidate it wanted. The library’s board of trustees announced Wednesday that Paul Mills, the former deputy director of the library, would take over as Fountaindale’s new director beginning July 5. Mills, according to a library release, left Fountaindale in January to become the director of the Acorn Public library District in Oak Forest, where he helped manage an ongoing addition and renovation project among other initiatives. Bob Kalnicky, the board’s vice president, said Mills has a tremendous upside and brings a forward thinking mentality to a library that all but requires it. The …
