Temporary Studio 300 Space to Continue Offering Services, Programs

Fountaindale Public Library opened a temporary Studio 300 space after its new multimedia creative space flooded last month.

While Studio 300 is being repaired from the damage incurred from the April flooding, Fountaindale continues to offer many Studio 300 services and programs in a temporary space. Studio 300 is located in the lowest level of the library.  The Quiet Reading Room, located on the third floor of the library, is now the temporary Studio 300 space. The Mac computer stations are set-up and staff will continue to host programs and one-on-one training. Patrons can continue to learn about the video equipment with a “mini” TV studio. There's a TriCaster, cameras and a portable green screen set-up so patrons can gain experience and be ready to use the video recording studios in Studio 300. Suicide Investigation Prompts Weekend Police Presence Near Library

Readers reported seeing armed police officers and a SWAT truck near a Bolingbrook home Friday night.

Bolingbrook police investigated an adult suicide Friday night near Fountaindale Public Library.  Sign up for our daily, e-newsletter.  Like Bolingbrook Patch on Facebook.  Around 5:45 p.m. Friday, numerous Bolingbrook Patch readers reported seeing as many as 15 police cars lined up on Delaware Drive, just north of Briarcliff Road. Police cars blocked the Fountaindale parking lot, according to witnesses, and Delaware Drive and at Davis Lane was blocked off.  "Police have guns drawn surrounding a house," wrote one reader. "SWAT truck just backed up to the house!"  Police began to leave at 7 p.m., according to a witness.  Police are not releasing any further information about the incident.

Flood Clean-Up to Keep Fountaindale's Studio 300 Closed for Several Months

Fountaindale Collects More than 4,000 Items in Food for Fines

Fountaindale Public Library in Bolingbrook has successful food for fines event, but doesn't fare well in the storm.

Fountaindale Public Library collected an impressive 2,455 items during its Annual Food for Fines promotion as part of National Library Week, which just passed. During this two week promotion, the library was able to remove $1,807.34 from patron accounts. Patrons were forgiven $2.00 for each item donated, up to $20.00 could be credited per card.

The library trustees go on boondoggle trips every year. Two trips a year sometimes and two or three trustees go on the trips. Los angeles ( or San diego?),New Orleans, Chicago in 2009. Chi trip included hotels! Feed their faces at trustee meetings and want to send library money to their local churches. Just for starters. But can't get a decent sump pump!   more ›

Fountaindale Public Library Celebrates National Library Week

Clear up overdue items, donate to the food pantry and attend several events held at Fountaindale Public Library next week.

National Library Week is April 14-20. Patrons have two great options to clear up fines and overdue items during National Library Week and the week leading up to National Library Week (April 8-14). During the two week Amnesty Period (April 8-20), patrons will be able to return overdue materials without paying any fines (please note that Studio 300 equipment and materials overdue more than 90 days are not included in this special). The annual Food for Fines program will also run for a two-week duration (April 8-20) and will give patrons the opportunity to eliminate or reduce fines. For each unexpired canned, boxed, bagged or bottled non-perishable food item that you bring in, the library will remove $2.00 from your overdue fines up to $20.00…
