Police Blotter: Credit Card Fraud, Domestic Battery

Driving under the influence, in-state warrants and more in the Bolingbrook police blotter of Sept. 22, police said.

Sept. 22  Credit card fraud, in-state warrant  Roberto Zavala, 23, of 160 Malibu Dr., was arrested at 12:08 p.m. and charged with credit card fraud and an in-state warrant following a traffic stop on the 1300 block of Marquette Drive, Bolingbrook police said.  Domestic battery  Kiayre Wilkins, 20, of 133 Larchmont Way, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. and charged with domestic battery after a call to the residence, police said.  Driving under the influence  Rafael Morales, 43, of 305 Pierce St., was arrested at 4:40 p.m. and charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license, improper lane usage and driver safety belt following a traffic stop at Route 53 and Crossroads Parkway, police said.  Driving under the influence  Donnell Pitman, 36, of 449 …

Will County Issues Warning About Imposter Inspectors Scamming Restaurants

Fake inspectors tell business owners to use a "confirmation" code during inspections and via automated calls tied to a fraud scheme, officials say.

The Will County Health Department's Division of Environmental Health has issued a warning about a scam aimed at restaurants and other food service businesses. The scammers will contact restaurateurs, claiming to be health inspectors or other government officials. Once a fake identity has been established, business owners are informed about a "new inspection procedure." There is no new inspection procedure, and the scammer is really trying to set up an account linking the restaurant with a national online auction service. If an account is successfully established, the verification information can be used in conjunction with other fraudulent schemes.
