Humane Haven Annual Garage Sale to Benefit the Animals

The Humane Haven Animal Shelter is holding its annual garage sale Saturday in the Kohl's parking lot.

With the garage sale season coming to an end, Bolingbrook's Humane Haven Animal Shelter is holding its annual year-end blowout Saturday. The sale, which is held in the Kohl's parking lot, runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with all of the proceeds going to help the hundreds of unowned animals in the shelter. Perhaps more unique, all of the items sold will be donated by local residents. "100 percent of the proceeds go for the care of dogs and cats in the shelter," said Walt Marcis, a volunteer for the shelter. "It pays for hospital bills, food, cat litter, and medicine for the animals." The sale is a sort of two-way street for garage sale enthusiasts. Shoppers can donate old and unused items to the sale between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday and then …

Garage Sale in January? Only in Bolingbrook

The 19th annual Community Service Council Garage Sale is this Friday and Saturday.

On Friday and Saturday, the Community Service Council will hold it's 19th annual “Garage” sale to raise money for Operation Christmas in the Performing Arts Center at Bolingbrook's Village Hall. The sale will be open both days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. But, you might say, "Christmas is over, and the Performing Arts Center is not a garage." And technically, you'd be correct. But the folks at CSC are already gearing up for next year. “We receive donated items and we sell them to support the Operation Christmas fund,” said CSC executive director Robert Kalnicky. “It's usually household items; very typical of a garage sale.” Stacked…
