Brooks Basketball Team Just Misses State Finals

The Brooks Middle School girls basketball team's season ended just one game short of the state quarterfinals.

An unrelenting defense wasn't enough to carry Brooks Middle School to the 8th grade girls basketball state quarterfinals as a taller and stronger Mokena Junior High squad held off the Bulldogs 34-30 in a sectional final contest Wednesday evening in Frankfort.  Brooks (18-3) forced 26 turnovers in the contest including back-to-back steals by MacKenzie Williams and Tsimba Malonga with three minutes left in the game to give the Bulldogs a 28-26 lead. But the Meteors (17-7) utilized their powerful inside game to tally on a put back and a layup to take the lead for good 30-28 with 1:38 left. Malonga's free throw with 1:19 left pulled the Bulldogs within 1. After another Mokena layup, Williams hit a free throw with 33 seconds left and Cheyenne …

There were the Lakers continuing their season-long habit -- that begin on Christmas Day against Chicago -- of giving up big leads, yet for the second straight night they were bailed out on another one of those how-in-the-world-does-he-do-that shots that only Bryant can make. On Tuesday night it was a seven-bounce rim-rattler that finally put down the Nets. This time, it was a killer 22-foot …   more ›

Bolingbrook has two more games before traveling to Phoenix for the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Massengale, Tuck Help Lead U.S. to World Championship

Americans win FIBA U19 title with a 69-46 win over Spain on Sunday.

It's been a good year for Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders standouts Ariel Massengale and Morgan Tuck. In November both signed letters of intent to play for two of the top NCAA women's basketball programs in the nation—Massengale to the University of Tennessee and Tuck to the University of Connecticut.  The dynamic duo helped the Lady Raiders cruise to a near-flawless regular season before helping the team win its third state championship in as many years.  After the season, Massengale was named a McDonald's All-American. Just consider their most recent accomplishment—helping the U.S. U19 women's national team to a world championship over the weekend—the icing on their otherwise very large cake.  Both Massengale, now a former Lady …

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, http://BuzzSave.com   more ›

Massengale, Tuck Invited to Try Out for USA U19 Squad

National team will play for fourth-straight world championship in Chile in July.

From one three-peat squad to another, it seems to make on difference for Ariel Massengale or Morgan Tuck. Massengale and Tuck—two pillars of the Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team over the years—have been invited to try out for the USA U19 World Championship team. Both were included in the elite roster of 34 of the nation’s best girl basketball players ages 19 and under, which was released last week by USA Basketball. Massengale and Tuck, who helped lead the Lady Raiders to a third-straight state championship in March, will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., on May 22 to try out for one of 12 roster spots. The announcement of up to 16 team finalists will be made in the morning of May 25, a USA Basketball release said. If …

Massengale Represents Lady Raiders In All-American Game Skills Competition

Ariel Massengale was full of smiles Monday during the skills competition at Chicago State University.

CHICAGO—Anyone who has crossed paths with the Bolingbrook High School girls basketball program knows Ariel Massengale's name is synonymous with winning. The Lady Raiders point guard has been a part of 83 wins and three Class 4A state championships  over the last three years. So maybe that's why it might have been a little surprising to see Massengale come up short in the 3-point contest during Monday's skills competition portion of the McDonald's All-American Games. "It was fun. This was my first ever 3-point contest," she said. "But I'm looking forward to the big game Wednesday." Massengale, who will be attending the University of Tennessee and playing under legendary coach Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols, scored 15 points -- narrowly …
