And the Winner Is: Bolingbrook Woman Takes Home the Prize in Bears/Packers Contest

Tracy Adams said a coworker helped her come up with her guess for the final score in Sunday's NFC matchup.

A Bolingbrook resident proved to be the most sports-savvy reader in Bolingbrook Patch and Romeoville Patch’s “guess the score” contest on Sunday.  Winner Tracy Adams guessed that the Bears would beat the Packers by one point, with a guess of 21-20, in Sunday’s NFC title game. Unfortunately for heartbroken Chicago fans, she may not have had the outcome exactly right, but she came the closest—within a mere eight points—to guessing the final score of Packers 21-Bears 14.  Adams said she’s a longtime Bears fan.  “I moved to Chicago area in early ’80s, just in time to be a part of the Bears '85 season, (and) have been a fan ever since,” she said. But Adams took the advice of a coworker when making her pick for the big game.  “(I) saw the …

Put Up Or Shut Up Time For Bears, Packers

Five days of hype are in the rearview mirror and gameday couldn't come any sooner.

And then there were two. Two days until the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers take to the much-maligned Soldier Field turf, with the winner going to the Super Bowl and the loser going home needing ear plugs to block out taunts from rival fans. I've grown weary of Packers fans saying Green Bay will win because Chicago is full of snobs and elitists. But I'm also tired of Bears fans saying the Packers will lose because Wisconsin is full of overweight slobs rocking mullets and still living in the '70s. The aforementioned punchlines will not decide Sunday's winner, nor will they help either team gain a …

Your Beer and Cheese Guide for Sunday's Bears Playoff Game

Having a party for the big Bears-Packers game? Not sure what to serve? Not to worry.

There is an air of excitement in Chicago as the Bears continue their quest toward another Super Bowl ring. Along with this excitement comes game-day preparations, as we look forward to rooting for (or against) teams in the NFL playoffs. Today, we will review cheese and beverage pairings that can enhance football day festivities. Most everyone will more than likely have the typical snacks such as pretzels, nuts, chips and dip. What goes great with these snacks—other than wine for the wine lovers? Beer, of course.  If we are going to have beer at our party, then cheese can be a great pairing during the game. The cheeses we use can enhance the flavor of—or be enhanced by—the wine and beer we choose. Let’s take a look at a few cheese choices …
