Wish Granted for 20-Year-Old Burn Survivor
Katrina Watkins received money and food vouchers to help her care for her three young siblings while her mother is in a coma.
A 20-year-old tasked with caring for her three young siblings had a small wish granted Tuesday night in Bolingbrook. Katrina Watkins' mother has been in a coma for more than a year, leaving her to care for her siblings, ages 2, 8 and 10. She's had trouble finding a job and lives off of what the family receives in aid. Through "Wish Upon a Hero," touted as the "world's largest social helping network," someone posted a wish for Katrina to receive $50 to pay for basic needs like food and school supplies. "While she receives help to buy food, she does not get help for buying things like laundry soap," the wish said.
