Bolingbrook Police Host Annual Shop With a Cop Event

Kids partner with local cops to shop for the holidays.

More than 100 local students shopped with Bolingbrook cops Wednesday in the police department's annual Shop With a Cop event. The program, held at Meijer, gives students a $50 gift card courtesy of Meijer while cops assist them while they shop.  The Bolingbrook Police Department has hosted the program for 14 years, Bolingbrook Lieutenant Mike Rompa said.  "Many of the kids selected items for other family members before thinking of themselves," Rompa said. "The program elevates the holiday spirit throughout the Bolingbrook community." The police department would like to send out a special thanks to Meijer East Store Manager Brian Danner and his Retail Administrative Assistant Pam Willis for making this event possible.

Poll: Will You Spend More or Less on Christmas Presents This Year?

A Gallup poll found Americans estimate they will spend more on Christmas presents this year. What do you think?

Americans, according to a recent Gallup poll, estimate they will spend an average of $764 on Christmas gifts this year—$50 more than the $714 they estimated at this time last year, and more than $100 above the depressed levels they forecast in November 2008 and 2009. The $764 figure would represent a three-year high in Americans spending habits. In 2008, Americans said they planned on spending on average $866 on Christmas gifts. That number plummeted to just $616 the next year. The numbers are based on a Gallup survey conducted Nov. 3-6. For more on the poll, CLICK HERE. In the meantime, we ask you...
