The Jane Addams student council and the entire school put together the video, which is posted on YouTube.
Jane Addams Middle School recently came together to produce an anti-bullying LipDub video. The video includes a short skit written by student council members, a musical tour through the school and a school assembly. The video is set to the song, "Wavin' Flag" by K'naan. Jane Addams also held a mustache fundraiser in December, according to the Bolingbrook Reporter. Students donated money in support of fourteen teachers and staff who grew mustaches. Walk, bike, run, scoot or drive to Family Fitness Night presented by Independence and Jamie McGee elementary schools, Jane Addams Middle School and Bolingbrook High School from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Center, 200 S. Lindsey Lane. A fitness and nutrition specialist will provide instruction and information on fitness agility, core, cardio, strength, flexibility and healthy living. Families and community residents are encouraged to take a tour of the Bolingbrook Park District to see the many programs available for them. Students at Jane Addams Middle School in Bolingbrook raised $539.75, while parents and staff donated $229.99 for a total of $759.74 for victims of Sandy, the catastrophic storm that left a lot of people in dire need of help. According to staff members Nicole Mellen and Joy Hayes, who headed up the effort, it was important for students to take a step back from their own life and reach out to help others. Mellen and Hayes got the word out to organizations in the building, primarily Student Ambassadors, Builder's Club, and National Junior Honor Society with each club offering to help in some capacity. Brooks Middle School beat Jane Addams Middle School 45-36 Friday to win the Class 4A girls basketball regional championship.
Brooks Middle School exploded in the first quarter and never looked back as they clipped Jane Addams 45-36 Friday afternoon to win the Class 4A girls basketball regional championship. The Bulldogs advance to Wednesday's sectionals at Summit Hill in Frankfort against either Mokena or Homer with the winner moving on to the state quarterfinals. Two players registered double-doubles in the contest. Brooks' Talia Edwards tossed in 20 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to go with 4 steals, while Addams' Karly Seay nearly matched that with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The annual Jane Addams Middle School Craft Fair and Cookie Walk is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. More than 70 crafters and vendors are scheduled to be on hand with great holiday gifts including crochet and knit products, hair accessories, jewelry, scarves, hats, blankets, mittens, bean bag and dice games, wooden accessories, garden stones, wreaths, cards and scrapbook items, quilted items, sock monkeys, pet treats and accessories, yard decorations, fabric books and a lot more. Bolingbrook middle school students read an amazing 1.4 million pages in the Fountaindale Library 2012 Great Page Race with Jane Addams Middle School grabbing the grand prize. Some 413 Addams students read 640,916 pages, qualifying the school for a $300 collection of paperback books courtesy of Friends of the Fountaindale Public Library. Hubert Humphrey finished second with 572 students reading 484,862 pages. The school will receive a $200 collection of paperback books. Brooks Middle School earned a $100 collection of paperback books for finishing third with 357 students reading 249,317 pages. On a cold Saturday, Jane Addams Middle School hosted the IESA Sectional Cross Country meet at Central Park in Bolingbrook. Valley View is sending 15 runners to the State meet next week in Normal, IL. Jane Addams led the pack of qualifiers, with the entire girls team and two individuals of the boys' teams qualifying for state competition. “These girls were so focused and ran so smart," said Jane Addams Coach Adam Thas.
