Jane Addams 8th-Grader to Play in Statewide All-Star Basketball Game
Jane Addams Middle School eighth-grader Trey Mack is the first middle school basketball player in Valley View history to play for three state championship trophy-winning teams.
Jane Addams Middle School 8th grader Trey Mack has been selected to participate in the seventh annual Eighth Grade Junior Prospects Boys All-Star Basketball Game in Decatur April 13. Mack is the first middle school basketball player in Valley View School District 365U history to play for three state championship trophy-winning teams. The Addams 7th grade squad finished 2nd in state when he was in 6th grade, his 8th grade squad finished 2nd in state last year, and this year’s 8th grade squad finished 3rd in state. A straight “A” student and a member of the Jane Addams National Junior Honor Society, the 5-11, 150 pound basketball star has been a VVSD student since he began kindergarten at Jamie McGee Elementary School. After losing the state semifinal Saturday, the Jane Addams Middle School eighth grade basketball team will play for third place Thursday.
Jane Addams Middle School’s 8th grade boys basketball team will bring home its fifth Illinois Elementary School Association state championship series trophy in the past 11 years after winning a quarterfinal contest Saturday afternoon before losing in the semifinals Saturday night. Jane Addams to Play in Boys State Basketball Quarterfinal
Janes Addams Middle School won its sectional game Wednesday and will play in the state quarterfinal on Saturday.
Firing on all cylinders Wednesday night, Jane Addams Middle School advanced to the IESA 8th grade boys basketball Class 4A state quarterfinals thanks to a 64-34 shellacking of Rockford West Middle School in the Jefferson Sectional championship game. The Mustangs (23-2) will meet unbeaten Parker Junior High School of Flossmoor (21-0) in a 1 p.m. Saturday contest at Bartonville-Limestone High School. The winner moves on to the state semifinals at 5 p.m. that same day. The state finals and third place game are Feb. 14. Jane Addams Wins 8th Grade Boys Regional Basketball Title
Jane Addams Middle School's boys basketball team beat Jefferson Jr. High School Jan. 31 to take the regional titel.
Cameron Harris’ layup off a nifty pass from Joseph Yesufu with 42 seconds left gave Jane Addams Middle School a hard fought 30-29 eighth grade boys basketball regional championship victory over Jefferson Junior High Thursday. The game featured 12 lead changes and five ties as the pesky Wolverines hung in there against the taller, more talented Mustangs who will now meet either Rockford West or Rockford Kennedy in a 6 p.m. Feb. 6 sectional final at Jefferson in Woodridge. The sectional winner advances to the state quarterfinals Feb. 9.
