If you haven't shopped at your local Jewel-Osco grocery store in a while, be prepared for a new customer service initiative that you may, or may not, appreciate. It's called the "cart-to-car" service, according to couponsinthenews.com, and whether you want the help or not, your bagger is expected to follow you and your cart out to your vehicle. The service is mandatory, though Jewel-Osco denies it has anyting to do with keeping track of shopping carts, according to Coupons in the News. "We understand that this is a very different service and it might take our customers some time to understand that we want this to be the norm," said a Jewel customer service representative in the article. Supervalu announced Thursday it will sell Jewel-Osco and four other grocery chains for $3.3 billion to AB Acquisition, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The sale includes 877 stores, including "Albertsons, Acme, Shaw’s and Star Market stores and related Osco and Sav-on in-store pharmacies," the Sun-Times reported. If the firm decides to keep stores open, the sale could mean lower prices for Jewel-Osco patrons. Jewel previously had to purchase its goods wholesale from Supervalu. Now it can shop around for better deals. However, there is speculation that the buyout firm now in charge of its future could close stores or sell them to the highest bidder. Bolingbrook police responded to Jewel-Osco Tuesday night to help locate a person who was thought to be suicidal, according to reports.
A 43-year-old Naperville man was found dead in his car Tuesday night after Bolingbrook police responded to Jewel-Osco in an attempt to find a person who was thought to be suicidal. The preliminary investigation of the death appeared to be a suicide, according to police. The man was pronounced dead at 10:55 p.m. Officers cleared the area when they found a suspicious object near the body. The Bolingbrook Fire Department evaluated and handled the hazardous material concern. The object was later identified as a helium tank. The incident remains under …

Naperville resident Ilda Rodriguez and her family are almost ready to open the doors of Taco Diner at Boughton and Weber roads, next door to the Jewel-Osco. Many Bolingbrook residents likely know the location best as the former home of Bacci Pizzeria. But once they walk through the Taco Diner's doors, all similarities to that restaurant will vanish.
