A special prosecutor brought in to try Will County Board member Steve Wilhelmi's son for battery dropped the case but is still going after two pals of the young man. The fathers of these two men are not on the county board.
When Will County Board member Steve Wilhelmi's son was first arrested for allegedly whipping a man with his belt, he only faced charges of misdemeanor battery and mob action. Then the mob action charge went away, and now he's charged with nothing. A special prosecutor called in to try Wilhelmi's 21-year-old son, Alex Wilhelmi of 1108 Taylor St., Joliet, dropped the case Thursday morning. But David Neal of the Special Prosecution Unit of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor's office is still going after the two men arrested along with Alex Wilhelmi on July 1. Elzbieta Plackowska, 40, pleads not guilty on 10 counts of first-degree murder for the alleged stabbing deaths of her 7-year-old son Justin and 5-year-old Olivia Dworakowski and 2 counts of aggravated animal cruelty.
In a historic court hearing Wednesday, in which cameras were allowed inside a DuPage County courtroom for the first time, a Naperville woman's attorney entered a plea of not guilty for her in the stabbing deaths of two young children. Elzbieta Plackowska, 40, did not speak during the hearing and was dressed in a dark blue jail uniform facing Judge Robert Kleeman with her back to the cameras. The hearing itself was short, lasting around 5 minutes. Luis Benito, 17, of Bolingbrook, pleaded guilty in January to two counts of aggravated DUI and faces between three and 14 years in prison.
Sentencing for the Bolingbrook teen who drunkenly drove his SUV through the wall of a Bolingbrook apartment building, killing a woman, was delayed this morning. Luis Benito, 17, of the 300 block of Woodcreek Drive, appeared in a Will County courtroom Wednesday and is due back again Monday. Benito is being charged with drunken driving in connection with a fatal car crash at the Riverstone Apartments, located off Lily Cache Lane, in November. Benito pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated driving under the influence in January and now faces between three and 14 years in prison.
