Basketball: Lady Raiders Almost Lose Year-Long Conference Win Streak

The Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders nearly lost its win streak in the SouthWest Suburban Blue conference with a close call against Homewood-Flossmoor.

It was a close call.  The Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders basketball team nearly lost a year-long conference win streak in an overtime thriller against Homewood-Flossmoor Jan. 3.  The team at one point trailed by 20 points. Three starters fouled out, according to the Southtown Star.  The Lady Raiders salvaged the SouthWest Suburban Blue conference winning tradition in overtime. Bolingbrook beat Homewood-Flossmoor 66-65, according to MaxPreps. The "physical affair" included 51 fouls and 60 turnovers. Bolingbrook Girls Basketball Team Steamrolls Lincoln-Way Central

The Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team bested Lincoln Way Central Thursday night in Bolingbrook.

It wasn't much of a fight.  Bolingbrook High School's girls basketball team steamrolled Lincoln Way Central Thursday, winning 80-22 in Bolingbrook.  Four players scored in the double digits, according to the Bolingbrook Reporter:  The team is now 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the SouthWest Suburban Blue conference.  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  There are plenty of ways to keep up on Bolingbrook news:

Lady Raiders Taking on Benet Academy Thursday Night

The nationally ranked Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders play Benet Academy at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The nationally ranked Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders girls basketball team will continue their quest for a state title at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a game against Benet Academy. The Lady Raiders, ranked fourth by USA Today, are coached by Tony Smith. Thursday night's winner will go on to meet the victor of a game between Trinity River Forest and Whitney Young, currently ranked No. 2 in the country by USA Today, at 8:10 p.m. Monday in the Hinsdale Central Supersectional. The Monday winner will continue on to play in the state semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 2 at Illinois State. Thursday night's game will be played at Neuqua Valley High School. Girls Basketball: Lady Raiders Eying National Championship This Season

The eight seniors returning on the Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team are looking to lead by example and wind up playing for a national championship.

How do you top a third-straight state championship? Easy, members of the 2011-12 Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team say: win a national title. The Lady Raiders return eight seniors this season, and they're all eying national hardware. All eight have received scholarships to play Division I basketball next season. “I think it shows that we put in a lot of hard work and dedication and it paid off in the long-run,” senior guard/forward DaLacy Anderson said. During head coach Anthony Smith’s 11-year tenure, this class tops his 2006-07 senior class, which had six girls receiving DI scholarships. Girls Basketball: Eight Seniors to Sign Letters of Intent for D1 Schools

Morgan Tuck, who figures to be the cornerstone of this season's Lady Raider basketball team, will join seven of her fellow senior teammates in the NCAA D1 ranks next season.

As the Lady Raiders girls basketball team looks to begin its journey for an astonishing fourth-straight state championship in the coming weeks, eight of its seniors will be doing so without the distraction of worrying about where they will be playing next season. Eight of the team's seniors, all of which helped the team to a third-straight state championship in March, are expected to sign letters of intent to play for some of the nation's most accomplished NCAA women's basketball programs. Report: Lady Raider ChaRosnese Williams Commits to Stetson

Williams was also considering offers from Central Michigan, Bradley, Southern Illinois and Roosevelt.

ChaRosnese Williams, a reserve on last season's Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders girls basketball team, orally committed to play collegiate basketball at Stetson, according to a Chicago Tribune report.  "It was the best fit for me academically and basketball-wise," Williams told the Tribune. "They will be able to develop me as a student of the game. According to the report, Williams was also considering offers from Central Michigan, Bradley, Southern Illinois and Roosevelt. Stetson plays in the Atlantic Sun Conference and finished with a 20-13 overall record in 2010-11 (14-7 conference record). The Hatters wound up losing 99-34 to the University of Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Women's Championship.
