A 20-year-old Frankfort woman died of a drug overdose while at a Lewis University dorm this weekend, and the friend with whom she was staying has been arrested for trying to conceal her role in the death, Romeoville police said Monday. Anna Marinier was found dead at Fitzpatrick Hall at about 11:10 a.m. Sunday, Romeoville Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said. Although toxicology tests are still pending, it's suspected she overdosed on heroin, he said. Her friend, Jamie Olson, 21, of 9125 Letterkenny, Tinley Park, was arrested Sunday night on a felony charge of obstruction of justice and booked into the Will County jail. Citing the "ongoing investigation," Lucchesi declined to disclose what Olson did in terms of obstructing the case …

Hard drugs always scared me because I knew you could die from just one use. I never was interested in them but I feared them too and that was back when I felt invincible. I don't know how these kids can take these drugs and not worry they might OD. I just can't see how it's worth the risk. I hate to see any parent lose a child over drugs. What a waste.   more ›

The Romeoville Police Department and the Will County Coroner's Office are investigating the death of a "non-student" who was found dead Sunday in Lewis University's Fitzpatrick Hall. No details on the death or the person's identity were avaiable Sunday night. The information was made public by the Romeoville-based Catholic University via its Facebook page. Employees were also notified via email Sunday night. "The authorities report there was not and is no current threat to campus," the statement said. Bradley Elmore announced his decision last week. He's played for the Bolingbrook High School varsity baseball team for four years.
Bradley Elmore, a senior at Bolingbrook High School, has committed to play baseball at Lewis University in Romeoville. Elmore is a pitcher and four-year varsity player on the Bolingbrook High School baseball team. He started playing baseball at the age of 4 before playing with the Bolingbrook Park District and on travel teams, as well as middle and high school. Elmore said he became interested in baseball because his older brother and father played the sport. He became a pitcher because he's always been "one of the bigger kids" on the team. 'HERO HELPS' unites a grassroots organization with Will County in the face of increasing use of the drug and alarming overdose statistics.
Two fathers are turning their tragic losses into an effort to fight back against an epidemic that quickly spreading across Chicagoland. On Friday, April 13, they’ll join with a Will County initiative to spread awareness of the growing heroin problem during a daylong event at Lewis University in Romeoville. The HERO HELPS event will feature expert guest speakers in the fields of law enforcement, addiction treatment, and education and prevention. The day will culminate in a youth rally featuring area bands and young people who will speak out about their own experiences with the increasingly deadly drug.
