Bolingbrook's Morgan Tuck Picked for USA Basketball U18 Team

Tuck and her fellow team members will attend two training camps this summer prior to the U18 Championship in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, from Aug. 15 to 19.

Bolingbrook High School senior Morgan Tuck was selected to the USA Basketball U18 National Team on Monday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Following five trials sessions held May 19 to 21 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO, the 12-player 2012 USA Basketball Women’s U18 National Team was selected by the USA Basketball Junior National Team Committee. In a release from USA Basketball, Tuck said she is happy about making the USA Basketball team for the third time. "I feel great," she said in the release. "I love being able to represent the USA and to go out and compete against different countries and get to know the players that are on the team." Tuck and her fellow team members will attend two training camps this …

Girls Basketball: Lady Raiders Stacking up Well When Compared to Past Teams

Bolingbrook head coach Tony Smith feels his 2011-12 squad is very similar to previous championship years.

The Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team might be 13-1 at the moment—riding high on senior forward Morgan Tuck’s outstanding play—but how do the Lady Raiders compare to past state champions at the midway point? Quite favorably, according to Lady Raiders head coach Tony Smith. Smith has led five previous Bolingbrook squads to 4A IHSA state titles, including three-straight and a second-place national finish last year. Now, he says can see many similarities between his 2011-12 girls and past teams. “I think they’re right there with them,” Smith said. “Every year, we question whether our kids want to and how tough are they. To be a champion, you have to be tough and have a lot of heart. We can’t see if we are yet until playoff time. …

Girls Basketball: Morgan Tuck Elevating Game to Next Level

The senior forward is trying to win Ms. Basketball of Illinois again with an incredible season. Tuck won the award three years ago as a freshman.

Morgan Tuck helped lead the Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team to a third-straight championship last season, was named to the USA U-19 national team and was widely acclaimed as one of the best high school talents in the country. So what does the senior guard have to work on this year? Tuck was the youngest winner of Ms. Basketball of Illinois as a freshamen. She has three state titles and will play for the University of Connecticut next year. Despite these accomplishments, the 6-foot-2 Tuck has driven herself to keep upping her game year after year as she desires to reclaim her Ms. Basketball title. "It was hard a little bit," Tuck said of continually improving in high school. "You start feeling yourself a bit when the accolades…

Girls Basketball: Lady Raiders Top Homewood-Flossmoor 90-61

Senior forward Morgan Tuck scores 41 points and nabs 14 rebounds to help Bolingbrook improve to 10-1 on the season.

Homewood-Flossmoor is not an easy hardwood opponent, but Bolingbrook's high-powered offense overwhelmed the Vikings as the Lady Raiders raced to a 90-61 home win Thursday night. The Lady Raiders (10-1, 4-0 Southwest Suburban) shot 34-of-64 (53.1 percent) from the field while holding the Vikings (12-6, 4-1 Southwest Suburban) to 17-of-41 (41.4 percent). Bolingbrook senior forward Morgan Tuck did it again, producing her second consecutive 40-point game as she dropped 41 on Homewood-Flossmoor on 14-of-20 shooting. Tuck also added 14 rebounds and four assists. "Tuck showed why she is the best player in the state," Vikings head coach Dana Noble said. "Our girls played hard and battled the whole game. They didn't stop playing until the game …

Girls Basketball: Lady Raiders Lose First Game of the Season in Nike Tournament

Lady Raiders squander an eight-point lead at half and take their first loss of the season in the first round of the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Bolingbrook's Morgan Tuck and Cicero-North Syracuse's (NY) Breanna Stewart will be teammates next season at the University of Connecticut.  On Monday, Tuck, the Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team's stud forward, and Stewart battled it out in Phoenix for bragging rights come fall 2012. Tuck and Stewart each led their respective teams, but Stewart and the Northstars ultimately proved to be too much as Cicero claimed a 43-40 victory over the Lady Raiders in the first round of the Nike Tournament of Champions. The loss was Bolingbrook's first of the season. The Lady Raiers are now 6-1 on the season.  The game was one of the must-see matchups in the first round of the Joe Smith Division, which features 11 of the nation's top 25 teams…

Girls Basketball: Bolingbrook Rolls to 56-25 Win Over Sandburg

Senior forward Morgan Tuck had a double-double while the defense held the Eagles to 20 percent shooting.

Despite lacking intensity, the Bolingbrook girls basketball team was able to pull away from Carl Sandburg 56-25 Tuesday night for its first home victory of the season. The Lady Raiders (4-0, 2-0 Southwest Suburban), who are the top-ranked team nationally in the USA Today polls, lead just 24-14 at the half as the Eagles (2-2, 0-1) got them out of rhythm. Bolingbrook committed an uncharacteristic eight first-half turnovers while missing many close lay-ups, keeping the Eagles in the game. “We just didn’t come out to play,” Bolingbrook senior forward Morgan Tuck said. “Coach (Anthony) Smith was definitely on us on getting out and starting up our defense with some stops. That was something we struggled with was getting our energy and aggression…

Massengale, Tuck Help Lead U.S. to World Championship

Americans win FIBA U19 title with a 69-46 win over Spain on Sunday.

It's been a good year for Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders standouts Ariel Massengale and Morgan Tuck. In November both signed letters of intent to play for two of the top NCAA women's basketball programs in the nation—Massengale to the University of Tennessee and Tuck to the University of Connecticut.  The dynamic duo helped the Lady Raiders cruise to a near-flawless regular season before helping the team win its third state championship in as many years.  After the season, Massengale was named a McDonald's All-American. Just consider their most recent accomplishment—helping the U.S. U19 women's national team to a world championship over the weekend—the icing on their otherwise very large cake.  Both Massengale, now a former Lady …

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Massengale, Tuck Continue Success on International Stage

Onetime Lady Raiders teammates help U19 U.S. national team get off to 3-0 start in FIBA preliminary round.

We already knew that Ariel Massengale and Morgan Tuck—two Bolingbrook High School products who helped the Lady Raiders win a third straight state championship in March—were among the best in girls basketball players in the state, and even the country. Now the pair are proving their merit on the international stage. Both Massengale and Tuck have logged significant playing time in the U19 United States National Team's 3-0 start to the FIBA World Championship in Chile this week. The U.S. team has defeated Japan, Russia and Argentina and will play China Monday before squaring off against Italy and Canada before week's end. Both Bolingbrook players have played a key role in the victories.  Massengale scored nine points, including two three-…

Massengale, Tuck Get the Job Done for Team USA

Former Lady Raider Ariel Massengale and current Lady Raider Morgan Tuck helped the U19 U.S. National Team defeat Japan Thursday.

Both Ariel Massengale and Morgan Tuck—staples of the Bolingbrook High School girls basketball team over the years—logged significant minutes and helped the U.S. U19 National Team to a 85-63 win against Japan in the 2011 FIBA preliminary round. Massengale, who will start for the University of Tennessee in this fall, played 24 minutes, dishing a game-high five assists and snatching a steal. Tuck, meanwhile, who will return to BHS this season before heading to the University of Connecticut next season, played 22 minutes while scoring eight points and grabbing seven rebounds.  Both Massengale and Tuck, who helped the Lady Raiders win a third-straight state championship in March, were named to the team in June. "It’s a great opportunity," …
