Severe Weather Possible Monday and Tuesday

Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are all possible.

Get ready for some storms. The storm system that dropped large hail and tornadoes on parts of Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma is now headed toward Illinois. The National Weather Service has placed most of Illinois in the "slight risk" category for severe weather on Monday and Tuesday. The main threats on both days will be damaging winds and large hail. The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center noted in its technical discussions that isolated tornadoes are also possible on Monday and Tuesday. "The most violent storms will ignite during the afternoon and evening hours as daytime heating causes instability," Accuweather.com Meteorologist Meghan Evans wrote in her forecast. Snow Predicted for Bolingbrook

The National Weather Service says up to three inches of snow could fall Thursday night.

The National Weather Service in Romeoville is predicting accumulating snow Thursday night into Friday Morning for the Bolingbrook area. The forecast estimates up to three inches of snow. "A fast-moving weather system will bring a period of snow to the area from later tonight into Friday morning," The National Weather Service said in a written release. "Snow will develop from west to east after midnight and taper off from the west early to mid-Friday morning." The areas cold temperatures, lows tonight are predicted to hover around 17 degrees, will mean the snow that falls will likely remain on the ground. Those conditions mean that roads will be slippery. Wind Advisory: 25-35 mph Winds, Gusts to 50 mph

The National Weather Service issued the advisory from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday as cold weather moves into the area.

If you’ve been wondering where the winter weather has been in the greater Chicago area, brace yourself: The answer tonight is blowing in the wind. Strong winds will sweep through the Chicago area, bringing colder temperatures and the possibility of snow flurries Sunday and Monday. The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a wind advisory from 7 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday, according to Accuweather, as colder weather and possible snow flurries move into the area. Sleet, freezing rain and snow are all possible.

Updated 9:45 p.m. A National Weather Service update predicts Will County will see a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow will continue overnight and diminish between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. NWS predicts a coating of ice in one tenth to two tenths of an inch and sleet accumulations between one inch and two. Heaviest Snow to Hit Chicago Between 5 and 9 p.m.

A winter storm warning is in effect from 3 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Updated: First Snowstorm of the Season Set to Arrive Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather alert for Bolingbrook, and some forecasters say we could be in for six to 12 inches of the white stuff.

Updated: Dec. 18, 2 p.m.  The National Weather Service continues to warn of a "rapidly strengthening storm." The NWS still expects the storm to begin with rain Wednesday night. Colder air will turn that rain into all snow by midday Thursday.  Current predictions show that six of more inches will fall in eastern Iowa, northwestern and north central Illinois and Wisconsin.  As more of the storm is known, snow predictions can rise or fall.  The NWS is more certain about winds with gusts as high as 45 to 50 mph Thursday afternoon and evening.  Travel is expected to be difficult Thursday, and the storm will affect air travel, the NWS said.  Original story  Snow might finally arrive in Bolingbrook Thursday, according to the National Weather …

Heat indices of 104 to 109 will be possible. The heat advisory will expire at 10 p.m.

Hot weather and breezy conditions will make Wednesday a dangerous day, for Bolingbrook both in terms of heat and for fire, according to the National Weather Service.  A heat advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday night, with temperatures of 96 to 103 and heat indices of 104 to 109 possible.  Very hot, dry and breezy conditions will lead to an increased danger for wildfires.  Outdoor burning is discouraged and should be avoided.  Prolonged exposure to the heat will be dangerous, according to the NWS, and can cause sunstroke, heat cramps or heat exhaustion.
