Valley View School District 365U Superintendent James Mitchem posted the following letter on VVSD.org Friday: To Valley View Parents, Guardians and Community Members: We were deeply saddened to hear the news of the shooting at the Connecticut elementary school. Our thoughts are with the members of that community. Please know that the safety of our students in Valley View School District 365U is ALWAYS our top priority. We take seriously our responsibility to ensure the safety of our children every single day. I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we have a plan in place at each of our schools to handle emergency situations. While it is certainly appropriate to have a plan to deal with a tragedy like the Newtown shootings, I would like to see what Valley View is proposing to do in order to limit the possibility of such an occurrence.   more ›
