With no snow in sight, Wednesday is expected to be the 320th consecutive day without at least an inch of snowfall in the Chicago area. That breaks the record of 319 days previously set in 1940. Chicago is expected to continue to set new records with no snow in the forecast. Only 1.3 inches have fallen so far this winter, according to the Chicago Tribune. In Chicago, 319 days have passed without an inch of snowfall.
Chicago's lack of snowfall is set to tie a record set in 1940. Three hundred and nineteen days have passed without an inch of snow falling in Chicago, according to the Chicago Tribune. With warm temperatures forecast for the rest of the week, Chicago will most likely break that record. Temperatures have also been warmer, according to the Trib. The lowest degree recorded so far this winter is 10 degrees above zero. The Chicago Tribune reports that if there is no more than 0.1 of an inch Monday, a new record will be set for days between snows.
The Chicago area could set a new winter record Monday. According to a story from the Chicago Tribune, if the area does not receive more than 0.1 of an inch of snow today, we’ll set a record for the number of days between measurable snowfalls. This time, 280. A measurable snowfall is more than 0.1 of an inch, the Trib reports. The National Weather Service is predicting a 30 percent chance of snow showers and a chance for flurries with a high of 35 degrees for Monday. Temperatures will remain unseasonably warm later in the week with predicted highs in the mid-40s, according to the National Weather Service.
