Obama's Gun Control Proposals Include Assault Weapon Ban, Background Checks for Gun Purchases

President Barack Obama spoke to the nation Wednesday morning about his proposal to reduce gun violence; recommends background check for all gun purchases, assault weapons ban.

President Barack Obama unveiled "the most sweeping effort at gun control policy reform in a generation" Wednesday, according to the Huffington Post. "This is our first task as a society: keeping our children safe. This is how we will be judged," Obama said in HuffPo. “We can’t put this off any longer." Obama called for the following: These recommendations will require Congressional approval. I don't see where the specific executive orders actually ban, eliminate or restrict guns. That falls on Congress. The Executive Orders actually deal with enforcement of rules already on the books.   more ›
