Brooks Middle School topped Martinez Middle School in the regional final Tuesday 40-29.
Brooks Middle School exploded for 26 points in the third quarter enroute to a 40-29 7th grade girls basketball regional final victory over Martinez Middle School Tuesday. The Bulldogs (13-5) advance to the Homer sectional final at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 against either Summit Hill (Frankfort) or Mokena Junior High. Brooks forced 17 Vikings turnovers in that amazing third quarter converting a 31-7 run into a 36-24 lead that they never relinquished. Francesca Aniceto and April Lowery each grabbed three steals and Tsimba Malonga scored 11 of her game high 16 points in the period. Nneka Onyejiaka won the Downers Grove South girls tennis sectional this weekend and advances to the next week's state finals.
Bolingbrook High School senior Nneka Onyejiaka cruised past Glenbard South's Jenna Brambora 6-0, 6-1 to win the Downers Grove South girls tennis sectional Saturday and advance to next weekend's state finals. Onyejiaka's toughest match came in the semfinals where it took three sets to beat Caroline Maltby from Glenbard West 2-6, 6-2 and 7-5. Jane Addams Middle School of Bolingbrook is one win away from qualifying for the Illinois Elementary School Association’s Class 3A state baseball quarterfinals after beating Lisle Junior High 8-3 Monday to win the Brooks Middle School Regional title. The Mustangs will travel to Shorewood at 1 p.m. Saturday to meet Troy Middle School for the sectional crown and the right to move on to a 4:30 p.m. Sept. 28 berth in the state quarterfinals in East Peoria. State semis are slated for noon on Sept. 29 with the title game at 4:30 p.m. that same day.
