Incidents of abuse occurred at St. Dominic Catholic Church and St. Francis of Assisi in Bolingbrook.
Five new lawsuits alleging cases of sexual abuse by priests and a Catholic school principal were filed in Will County Circuit Court Wednesday. Two of the suits stem from incidents that occurred in the 1970s and '80s at St. Dominic Catholic Church and St. Francis of Assisi, both located in Bolingbrook. Sign up for our daily, e-newsletter. Timothy Brandt, 36, was arrested Thursday after investigators executed a search warrant at his Romeoville home and seized his computers. Brandt is also accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl, an act he allegedly videotaped. A Bolingbrook man was arrested Monday after he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old and was also allegedly involved in manufacturing and delivering illegal drugs, according to Bolingbrook police. Cheers to the NCAA for kneecapping Penn State for covering up the atrocities of Jerry Sandusky. Finally, collegiate football says education comes first. “Football will never again be placed ahead of educating, nurturing and protecting young people,” NCAA President Mark Emmett said. Let’s hope. Too many schools have lost sight of what matters: the education and formation of young people. Yes, athletics is a part of that. However, the almighty dollar has trumped math and science. Football programs in Big Ten universities rake in the dough, directly through the sport, and indirectly through alumni contributions because of the sport. The $60 million NCAA penalty is a hiccup. Thanks for publishing all this. I used to know two of these men personally, and my daughter received first communion from one of them. This is sickening. I always had a hunch, personality types or something, but didn't want to judge. You folks with young children, don't let them out of your sight and certainly these days between coaches and priests you have to keep a very careful watch.   more ›
