BHS Senior Wins Tennis Sectional, Advances to State

Nneka Onyejiaka won the Downers Grove South girls tennis sectional this weekend and advances to the next week's state finals.

Bolingbrook High School senior Nneka Onyejiaka cruised past Glenbard South's Jenna Brambora 6-0, 6-1 to win the Downers Grove South girls tennis sectional Saturday and advance to next weekend's state finals. Onyejiaka's toughest match came in the semfinals where it took three sets to beat Caroline Maltby from Glenbard West 2-6, 6-2 and 7-5. Jane Addams Wins Regional Baseball Title; Sectionals Next

The team will travel to Shorewood Saturday to compete for the section crown. The state quarterfinals are Sept. 28.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from Valley View School District 365U.  Jane Addams Middle School of Bolingbrook is one win away from qualifying for the Illinois Elementary School Association’s Class 3A state baseball quarterfinals after beating Lisle Junior High 8-3 Monday to win the Brooks Middle School Regional title. The Mustangs will travel to Shorewood at 1 p.m. Saturday to meet Troy Middle School for the sectional crown and the right to move on to a 4:30 p.m. Sept. 28 berth in the state quarterfinals in East Peoria. State semis are slated for noon on Sept. 29 with the title game at 4:30 p.m. that same day. State Owes Valley View Nearly $8M

School district awaits unpaid bills from Springfield.

In less than a month, the state has slacked on nearly $1 million worth of bills it was supposed to pay the Valley View School District. According to district documents presented to the school board earlier this week, the state owes Valley View $7.98 million. That figure is up from the $7.03 million IOU the state was left with last month. Most of the money owed to the district is tied to transportation and special education funds. The state missed bills in three areas: special education, transportation and state free breakfast and lunch. For a complete itemized list of owed bills, click HERE.
